SUPER FOODS WORKSHOP
Did you know that tomatoes, broccoli, watermelon and blue berries are commonly referred as super-foods? This group of foods has a rich deep color, can help the body to build up the immune system and also act as a defense against disease even cancer.
Learn about the new nutrition qualities of tomatoes, broccoli, watermelon, and blueberries. Learn about the nutrient make-up of these super-foods. Learn which phyto-chemicals they contain. Learn about which antioxidants they contain. Antioxidants in ordinary vegetables and fruit, which were not considered essential for an adequate diet, are an important part of an optimal diet.
Their effect on our long-term health is cumulative, helping to protects us from the ravages of time and our own metabolism.Robert Sondak: Clinical Diet Tech, Junior Nutritionist and Food Educator is the moderator.
Robert studied Food Science at Pratt Institute Brooklyn, New York.
Robert has also worked at MGH, The New England Medical Center and was a nutrition intern for the old Boston Food Bank in Jackson Square, Boston.

HERBS IN AUTUMN Autumn is the time to start thinking ahead to colder days. We’ll look at making tasty herbal teas for alleviating wintry discomforts and encouraging winter health. Also, learn about harvesting and preserving your herbs, even if you just have a windowbox.
Recipes and some samples are part of this fun evening.
Iris Weaver is an herbalist and educator with over 30 years experience. She has an herbal business, making and selling herbal products locally, as well as teaching classes and doing consultations. Iris is also an avid gardener, and grows many of the herbs she works with and uses in her classes.
