I have heard a lot about the chemical BPA in register receipt paper – Does your receipt paper have it?

No. At our request, our paper company a few months ago found us a receipt paper that is Bisphenol-A free.
This is still room for concern, since BPA is also used in food cans and plastic bottles. The FDA is (finally) looking into it.
If you do get receipts from other places that still have BPA, please don’t recycle them – it might end up in your recycled toilet paper.

When is the Vegetarian Food Festival?

This year, it will be held on Saturday, October 30, 10 AM - 6 PM and Sunday, October 31, 10 AM - 4 PM at the Reggie Lewis Center.

How do you decide when to discount bulk granola?

We are a member of the Co-op Advantage Program (CAP), a great example of co-ops working together for your benefit. We used to have an almost full time person who would call around to companies and distributors to get specials. Now under the CAP program, we partner with over 300 co-ops around the country and we have ONE person nationally who is responsible for getting us specials, and printing out the great CAP flier you see in the store and online.
As you might figure with over 400 stores involved, we are able to get better, deeper discounts this way, and can pass the sale prices on to you.
You will notice a change, starting this month. Instead of monthly specials, they will be bi-weekly!

I love the Hippo bags! I reuse plastic anyway at home, but these are these are large and durable. Thanks for using them!

Thanks! Even though these are more expensive, they are very strong, and made from natural gas, not oil. Thanks for noticing, and we hope you reuse them at Harvest!

When I came shopping, my card said “invalid card”. Why did that happen? I am a member.

Most – 98% – of the cards reading “invalid” are old cards that have been reported lost, and been replaced. If you receive a new card after you reported your original card lost, your old card will not work anymore – it gets “turned off”. If you get a new card, be sure to give a copy of your new card to your partner!
